Search engine optimization and free site traffic.

If you are keen to create free traffic from search engine optimization, let me ask you a question. Have you ever wondered why certain websites come out at the top of the major search engines results pages?
Imagine, as an example, and that you yourself have a website that is concerned with overseas travel. So, in order to spy on your competition, you type 'travel' into the Google search box, and wait for the results, which show 761 million search results returned.
However, on the page that you see in front of you, there are only 10 results out of all those numerous millions that Google originally found. If your diabetes related website was to appear on this first page, then it is not hard to imagine just how many thousands of searchers would almost automatically become visitors to your site.
Even appearing on the second page of the results will be no major disaster, as research has indicated that most searchers who have a serious need of knowledge will often look at least this far.
Unfortunately, even these relatively dedicated searchers will probably stop there, and so, if your or site or blog is rated somewhere lower down the top hundred, then you are likely to see very, very few free visitors coming from the search engine results.
Now, take this analogy one stage further and imagine that your site appeared on the first page of every major search engine results for online dating. In this situation, it will be almost impossible not to earn substantial revenues through your site simply because of the number of visitors who were dropping by your site every day.
It would simply be natural that, should your site appear on the first search page in all the major engines, then you cannot fail to make money every day, and all that money will have been generated by free advertising!
No matter what your business, this situation is the dream of anybody trying to sell products or services online.
It is, however, not an impossible dream! The great news is that it doesn't take a great deal of money, or any special knowledge or skills to achieve these sorts of results.
You should, however, avoid wasting money on 'instant success' products that promise to skyrocket your site to top-10 search engine results almost overnight. Do not be tempted to spend your hard earned money unnecessarily in this way.
Unfortunately, in their eagerness to see their website ranked this highly, many marketers will buy these books, and resort to using tricks and underhand tactics to try to achieve this as quickly as possible. Do not do it. It is absolutely not necessary, and doing so could get your website blacklisted or even banned entirely.
If, on the other hand, you learn and apply the correct search engine optimization tactics, then it is relatively simple to create a torrent of free traffic for your website. And, because these tactics are all completely acceptable under the engines 'ToS', there is every possibility that your site will enjoy long-term search engine success as well.
Adopting a longer-term view, this approach also makes sense. Generating free site traffic using SEO tactics should be increasingly effective over time, although of course there can be no guarantee that, without further work, you will always retain your top 10 slot.
Until quite recently, search engine optimization was the only really effective way of generating no cost visitors for your site or blog.
This is, however, no longer necessarily the case, as other tactics are now every bit as important as SEO. Notwithstanding this, your site should still be fully optimized for the search engines, and, given that it only takes an hour or two to achieve, it is not a great deal of hard work either.
And, please, forget any secret formulas all magic systems for search engine optimization. No such thing exists, unfortunately, and, even if they did it is unlikely that it would be worth paying to find out about them. Search engine optimization is a relatively straightforward and simple operation, but it is something that needs to be done properly from the beginning if you seriously hope to achieve sustainable top-10 results with Google, Yahoo or MSN.
